I Don't Know Why I Always Love Wrong Men ––Actress Funmi

Who is Funmi Fiberesima?
I am a producer and actress but I like to refer to myself as entertainment entrepreneur because I handle the business of entertainment.

How much did you spend producing your first movie?
I spent close to N12m and that was because I ran into a lot of people that were thieves but my production was protected because of my background. I have learnt that if I have to give somebody any money, the person has to sign a written agreement.

The money must have come from your boyfriend?
I don’t have a boyfriend.

Why is that?
I seem to make all the wrong choices. The cliché that good girls like bad boys applies to my situation because I have a tendency to run into the wrong kind of guys.

Did you fall for a bad boy?
Yes. I fell for a couple of them. I seem to have a track record in that area. The fact is that if one person does something bad to you and the second person does the same thing, you begin to ask if you have a problem. I am currently going through rehabilitation process in church so that I can spot a good guy when he comes.

What happened with the last guy you dated?
He is married now. We actually got engaged, he was a good guy but a boring one.

Would you have preferred an actor to him?
No, I would not prefer an actor because I am not sure I would be able to endure the sight of my husband kissing another woman in a movie.

But that is your profession…
I know. Our profession is the type that can drive a woman crazy. I know there are some actors that do all that and are still committed to their homes but I don’t think I am secure enough to be an actor’s wife.

How I Escaped Nairobi Attack — Soyinka

soyinka-addressing-620x330

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has said that the late Ghanaian diplomat and poet, Kofi Awoonor and himself could have been together at the Storymoja/Hay Literature Festival held in Nairobi, Kenya.

He said he was invited to the same festival but could not attend.

Awoonor was killed by terrorists last Saturday at the Westgate Shopping Mall shooting in Nairobi. Soyinka said two commitments: a public conversation with a very brave individual, Karima Bennoune, an Algerian national, whose trenchant publication – Your Fatwa Does Not Apply Here, and the annual conference of international investigators in Tunis, were responsible for his inability to attend the festival. He said: “My absence was particularly regrettable, because I had planned to make up for my failure to turn up for the immediate prior edition.

Participant or absentee however, this is one edition we shall not soon forget. It was at least two days after the listing of Kofi Awoonor among the victims that I even recollected the fact that the Festival was ongoing at that very time.

“With that realisation came another: that Kofi and I could have been splitting a bottle at that same watering hole in between events and at the end of each day. My feelings, I wish to state clearly, did not undergo any changes.

The emotions of rage, hate and contempt remained on the same qualitative and quantitative levels,” he added. Soyinka spoke in Lagos yesterday during a memorial reading session tagged Humanity and Against and held in honour of the late Ghanaian poet.

He described the late Awoonor as a passionate African who gave primacy of place to values derived from his Ewe heritage. “That, in turn, means that he was thoroughly imbued with the spirit of ecumenism towards other systems of belief and cultural usages – this being the scriptural ethos that permeates belief practices of most of this continent.
We mourn our colleague and brother, but first, we denounce his killers, the virulent sub-species of humanity who bathe their hands in innocent blood,” he added.

Renowned poet, Prof JP Clark explained why Soyinka and himself were not at the funeral of the late Chinua Achebe at Ogidi, Anambra State, blaming it on politicians that hijacked the funeral. He noted that Prof Soyinka and himself did not sit and plot action on whether or not to attend Achebe’s funeral in Ogidi. “Politicians hijacked the Achebe’s funeral.

I said to myself, if there is life after death, Achebe would be laughing at the politicians.

So, writers could not have found a space in Achebe’s funeral. From the President to the Governors, they hijacked it,” he noted. Clark said critics might be wondering why a memorial is being held in honour of Awoonor in Lagos unlike when Chinua Achebe died.

President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Prof Remi Raji, who read from his collection of poems, The Fire Next Time, said of the late Ghanaian poet: “African literature has indeed lost an influential voice. The name, Kofi Awoonor, was very present in our minds as young students.

Though I never met him in person, his writings have been influential. The ANA has sent a condolence letter to the Ghana authority.

Today’s memorial is very instructive. His death is a reflection of the urban barbarisms in the globe today.” Other scholars who read excerpts at the memorial were Prof Kole Omotoso, Prof Femi Osofisan, Dr. Wale Okediran and Lola Shoneyin.

''I hate brás'': Nicki Minaj lets Her BO0B loose on ‘Ellen’

On the heels of Drake’s appearance on Ellen last week, Nicki Minaj followed her Young Money labelmate and linked up with the talk show host as well.

Something Drake didn’t do? While Nicki made her way to Ellen’s couch in a revealing black jacket with one button fastened, a little bit of her breast was visible, forcing her to adjust the top.

This prompted Ellen to say:
“Look, if you need to borrow a brá from me. You just let me know.”
Even though Ellen didn’t have a brá for Nicki, she presented her with some custom-made black thongs that may have made the rapper blush, just a bit. The two also talked about Nicki Minaj’s time as a judge on American Idol.

Lagos Teacher Caught Fóndling Bréasts Of His 11-Year-Old Student

A teacher, Augustine Akpan, who allegedly fondled the br**sts of his pupil, an 11-year old girl, has been remanded in prison custody by an Ikeja Senior Magistrate’s Court sitting at Abule Egba, Lagos.

The police arraigned 30-year-old Akpan before the court on a two-count charge of indecent assault and fondling the br**sts of his pupil.

It was gathered that the girl helped her teacher to carry his bag to his house after the day’s lesson. It was then the teacher allegedly tricked her into his room.

He was about to sexually assault the girl and was playing with her br**sts when she raised the alarm that attracted people nearby and the suspect was arrested and handed over to the police.

Inspector Rachael Williams, the police prosecutor, stated that the offence Akpan allegedly committed is contrary to and punishable under sections 135 and 261 (2) of the criminal law, volume 44, of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

When the charge was read to the suspect, he pleaded not guilty.

Although the offence is a bailable one, he could not meet the bail conditions in good time.

He was therefore remanded at Kirikiri Prisons, Apapa, Lagos pending when he could perfect the bail papers.

According to P.M.NEWS, the suspect is the teacher of the pupil in her school and when her parents saw that Akpan is a good teacher, they hired him to give her extra lesson at home.

Akpan’s sister was said to have blamed the incident on the devil and was making concerted efforts to secure the teacher’s bail.

According to her, Augustine Akpan is a nice person and had his wedding introduction ceremony recently. She wondered what could have led him to commit such an act.
The court has been adjourned till 15 October, 2013, for mention.

Here's How To Get The Hottest Séx

Despite all of the recent hystéria over young women ruining their lives by delaying marriage and "hooking up," a new survey suggests what most people probably already know -- women (and men) still value an emotional connection when it comes to their séx lives.
A recent Duréx survey of 2,000 men and women (all of whom were at least 25 years old) found that 87 percent of women reported that their "hottest séx" was with a partner who they trusted and had a prior relationship with (a.k.a. not a random one-night stand with a stranger). The vast majority of men (95 percent) also agreed that an emotional connection makes a séxual experience more satisfying, and both genders said they cared more about satisfying their partner than themselves.
This suggests that women -- and men -- are ultimately looking for more than a hookup with a stranger. The survey doesn't indicate whether these hot séxual experiences took place in the context of serious relationships or in the contéxt of casual relationships that still involved trust, but it means we probably don't need to be wringing our hands over the romantic priorities of people in their 20s and 30s.
In her book "The End Of Men," journalist Hanna Rosin argued that early-20s hookup culture actually benefits women in the long run and does not precludé them from finding a long-term, emotionally satisfying relationship later on. "Ultimately, the desire for a deeper human connection always wins out, for both men and women," she wrote in an excerpt printed in The Atlantic in September 2012. "Their hookup years are likely to end up as a series of photographs, buried somewhere on their Facebook page, that they do or don’t share with their husband -- a memory that they recall fondly or sourly, but that hardly defines them."
It seems that if women and men are searching for something deeper and more satisfying (both physically and emotionally) than a series of casual hookups, they will find it eventually.

8,000 Women Protest Over Scarcity Of Husbands [LOOK]

protestin77835753No fewer than 8,000 women on Thursday [Sept. 26] matched to the Zamfara Hisbah Commission, seeking the state government’s assistance to enable them to get married.

Led by the Chairperson of the Zamfara Widows Association, Hajiya Suwaiba Isa, and the patron, Alhaji Sa’idu Goshe, the women said they were not living a normal life and needed husbands to become whole.

“Many of us cannot afford two meals in a day because there are no men to support us,” they said.

The patron said the association had over 8,000 women, comprising 5,380 divorcees, 2,200 widows, 1,200 orphans and 80 others, whom he said, were looking for men to marry.
He said the women also needed assistance to purchase household items such as beds, mattresses and other basic necessities needed to move to their husbands’ houses.

Goshe appealed to the commission to assist the association in screening suitors for the women. He said the screening would determine the suitors’ health status, source of livelihood and ability to maintain a family.

Actor, Eddie Murphy’s daughters hit the beach in barely-there HOT bikinis [PHOTOS]

He may be on a family holiday in Hawaii with his daughters Bria and Shayne Audra from his marriage to Nicole Mitchell – but Eddie Murphy has always got time for romance.
The comic actor showed his sensitive side as treated girlfriend Paige Butcher to a balcony serenade.
The 52-year-old was seen strumming along on a guitar during the impromptu performance while his daughters were off entertaining themselves on the beach.

Clearly feeling in the mood for a spot of romancing the comedian, who was dressed all in white, decided to pick up his guitar and start playing to Paige.
The pretty blonde didn’t however look particularly moved by the music and stood slightly defensively with her arms crossed.
Wearing a purple tank top and a pair of white shorts Australian Paige looked more ready to hit the beach than listen to music.
Meanwhile his daughters Bria, 23, and Shayne Audra, 18, were doing just that.

She wore a racy black patterned bikini with a number of cut-sections on the bottom and top which revealed plenty of skin.
Her natural beauty was evident as she went make-up free and let her long curly hair sway in the wind.

Bria’s younger sister Shayne didn’t wear a bikini quite as risqué and instead opted for a pretty bandeau orange bikini.
Protecting herself from the sun she wore a large straw hat and covered her eyes with a pair of sunglasses.
Rather than lounging about on the beach all day they took to the waves for a spot of paddle boarding.

The girls’ other siblings from their father’s relationship with their mother Nicole – Myles, Zola Ivy and Bella Zahra – didn’t appear to be present on the trip.
Eddie also has a son with Tamara Hood called Christian, as well as son, Eric, with Paulette McNeely.
He famously fathered Spice Girls Melanie Brown’s daughter Angel, with whom he reportedly has no relationship.
Eddie and Paige have now been dating for just over eight months and judging by the balcony display things appear to be going just swell.

Meet the Artist Who Paints With His Manhood [PHOTOS]

PHOTOS: Meet the Artist Who Paints With His...

Tim Patch is an artist from Australia, whose nickname is Prickasso. The Australian gained a worldwide recognition as he uses his man-hood instead of a paintbrush to create pictures!

The artist became popular after exhibiting on 10th Annual Sexexpo Show back in 2006. Tim presented his pictures and declared himself as the founder of a new genre – man-hood-art.

Since then Tim Patch has really become a master of such an unconventional painting technique.

It’s really symbolic that Prickasso, who uses his child-making organ, therefore gives birth to new pictures.

Tim Patch admits that he is more interested in drawing women’s portraits. Politicians celebrities and nature have a lower priority in his works.

It’s hard to imagine how these ladies feel, as they see a unclad man is just several meters away from them…

2015: Jonathan Must Be Stopped By Every Well Meaning Nigerian – Fani-Kayode

fani1232321231

Former Minister of Aviation in the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, Femi Fani-Kayode, has called on Nigerians, especially “self-respecting” Yorubas, to stop by all lawful means, the second term ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015; otherwise, they should be prepared to see the country destroyed beyond repair.

Fani-Kayode stated this recently at the public presentation of De Raufs, Ile-Ife chapter, Osun State, where he was guest speaker.

The self-styled “servant of truth” and former mouth-piece of ex- President Obasanjo, passed a damning verdict on the Jonathan administration, saying that under it, Nigeria had become “an abbatoir of human flesh and blood.

“Yet, he still has the sheer effrontry to say that he wants to return to power in 2015 and some around him have said that if Goodluck is not re-elected in 2015 there will be bloodshed. Such threats and such words against the Nigerian people, yet no-one in government has seen it fit to call those that harbour such bloody and violent sentiments to order. What a government we have and what a country and what a people we are!” he added.

Mr. Fani-Kayode’s remarks were a direct response to President Jonathan’s in New York on Monday where he reportedly asked detractors to allow him carry on his job of governance. The President had also challenged his critics to point out, with facts and figures, evidence of his corruption and cited the recently concluded successful privatization of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) as evidence of his administration’s accountability and transparency.

But the former minister insisted that Mr. Jonathan must not be allowed to rule the country beyond 2015, more so that his ambition to run for reelection in 2015 had divided his own party – the Peoples’ Democratic Party and his own nation more than any other President in the history of Nigeria.

“Yet regardless of his desperation and their threats, this must not be allowed to happen,” he said.
“We must not allow it to happen regardless of the efforts of the fifth columnists amongst us in Yorubaland that still support him for the crumbs that they are getting from his table. If he comes back in 2015, by the time he finishes in 2019 the Yoruba will have been reduced to nothing but errand boys and slaves to others.”

Therefore, Mr. Fani-Kayode tasked his kinsmen, the Yoruba, to vote President Jonathan out of office when the time comes for their own sake and for the Nigerian people.

“Nigeria will be irretrievably destroyed and she will never be the same again. The challenge of every self-respecting Yoruba man today is therefore simple and clear: we must stop Jonathan from coming back to office in 2015 and we must vote him out of power when the time comes. We must do this for the sake of our people in the south-west and we must do so for the sake of the people of Nigeria.

“It is with this background in mind and in the knowledge of President Jonathan’s desperate and unholy intention to return to power at all costs in 2015 that I feel compelled to share the following words of wisdom from our Royal Father, the Alafin of Oyo, HRH Oba Lamidi Adeyemi with you. Just a few days ago he said the following: ‘My fatherly advice to those in authority at the federal level and especially our amiable President, is to learn from the mistakes of his very illustrious predecessor, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, by resisting any temptation to take the west by all means.’”

If You Have These Symptoms, Do HIV Test

The war against HIV/AIDS is far from being over. This is because, globally, more than 34 million people now live with HIV/AIDS, while 3.3 million of them are under the age of 15.
According to amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, which is dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic through innovative research, in 2011 alone, an estimated 2.5 million people were newly infected with HIV; and out of these, 330,000 were under the age of 15.
Sad to say, everyday, nearly 7,000 people contract HIV — nearly 300 every hour.
And, despite the giant strides made in the fight against this disease, in 2011, 1.7 million people died from AIDS, and 230,000 of them were under the age of 15.
And if you must know, more than two-thirds (69 per cent) of all people living with HIV (23.5 million), live in sub-Saharan Africa, of which Nigeria is a part. Ninety-one percent of the world’s HIV-positive children are also found in the sub-Sahara. And in 2011, an estimated 1.8 million people in the region became newly infected.
An estimated 1.2 million adults and children died of AIDS, accounting for 71 per cent of the world’s AIDS deaths in 2011.
Experts say since the beginning of the epidemic in the early 1980s, more than 60 million people, globally, have contracted HIV; and nearly 30 million have died of HIV-related causes.
If these statistics convey any message at all, it is this: HIV knows no border and anybody can be infected with it. Worse still is the huge number of young people who were indicated as victims of this disease. Indeed, experts fear that apart from young people who may have been born HIV-positive as a result of Mother-To-Child-Transmission, many young people contract the infectious disease through unprotected sex with someone already infected.
But then, medical experts tell us that though there’s no cure for HIV/AIDS yet, when detected early, HIV can be managed and prevented from progressing to AIDS. The Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, Prof. John Idoko, advises every sexually active person to regularly undergo HIV screening, so that they will know their HIV status.
Epidemiologist and Deputy Director, HIV/AIDS Division, Federal Ministry of Health, Mr. Segilola Araoye, recommends being tested at least once a year if you do things that can transmit HIV infection, such as injecting drugs or steroids with used injection equipment; having sex for money or drugs; having sex with an HIV infected person; having more than one sex partner since your HIV test; and having a sex partner who has had other sex partners since your last HIV test.
Experts say you are more likely to be infected with HIV if you have ever shared injection drug needles and syringes; have ever had sex without a condom with someone who had HIV; have ever had a sexually transmitted disease like Chlamydia or gonorrhoea; received a blood transfusion or a blood clotting factor between 1978 and 1985; and if you have ever had sex with someone who has done any of those things.
And if you happen to be one of those people who still dither about having HIV screening, here are the symptoms to look out for as you wonder whether or not you are HIV-positive.
The first one is fever. Family doctor, Eugene Osazie, says within a month or two of HIV entering the body, 40-90 per cent of people experience flu-like symptoms known as “acute retroviral syndrome.” She also notes that sometimes, HIV may not manifest for years. “As such, many people may even be HIV-positive without being aware,” she says.
She notes that such fever may be accompanied by certain symptoms such as fatigue, swollen lymph glands, and a sore throat, which may last for a few weeks. “By this time, the virus is moving into the blood stream and starting to replicate in large numbers,” Osazie warns.
She also warns that when HIV enters the bloodstream, it begins to attack certain white blood cells known as CD4 cells — the specialised cells that are a part of our immune system. “The immune system then produces antibodies to fight off infection. When you take an HIV test, doctors are actually looking for the presence of these antibodies, which confirm that HIV infection has occurred,” Osazie counsels.
Again, you should be worried if you now feel fatigued by simple activities that you were used to, such as walking; or if you feel pain in the joints and muscles, among others.
“One of the things that should ginger you up is when you start having swellings in the armpits, groin and neck, as these are some of the parts of the body where you have the lymph nodes.
“The lymph nodes are a sort of garrisons, as they act as filters for foreign particles and are important in the proper functioning of the immune system. When they are inflamed or swollen, therefore, it is an indication that something has gone wrong in the body, and only a competent medical screening can tell us what is cooking,” Dr. David Anyaegbuna of DuCross Clinics, Festac Town, Lagos, says.
Sore throat and headaches are also things to worry about if you have been engaging in risky behaviours as outlined above, experts warn. Ditto unexplained rash or boils, Anyaegbuna says.
Physicians also say nausea, vomiting and constant stooling (diarrhoea), as well as weight loss should be a wake-up call for HIV screening, as these may be signs that the immune system is being depleted systematically.
Doctors also advise that if you have prolonged dry cough that has become resistant to regular antibiotics; or if you always have night sweats even when the weather is cool; or if you develop mouth ulcers or genital herpes, go for HIV screening.
The online portal, health.com, also warns that if the colour of the nail changes, or if it thickens, splits or becomes discoloured with black or brown lines, HIV may be responsible.
As HIV courses through the body, Anyaegbuna says, the virus damages the nerves. It is then people start having tingling in the hands and feet — otherwise known as “peripheral neuropathy,” as you find among those who have diabetes.
Gynaecologists also warn that if, as a young or middle aged woman, you have fewer and lighter periods, it may be a manifestation of advanced HIV, which sometimes increases the incidence of menstrual irregularities.
Idoko agrees that those working in the field of HIV/AIDS need regular skills acquisition training. And in order to further equip resource persons, the Federal Ministry of Health, in collaboration with global bodies that include the World Health Organisation, holds regular stakeholders’ meetings, during which workers are trained to better understand relevant issues.
At one of such trainings in Lagos recently, a WHO official, Dr. Niyi Ogundiran, notes that the trainings aim to provide caregivers and those working in the field of HIV/AIDS practical knowledge about how to provide support for people living positively.
“The training also seeks to sharpen caregivers’ communications skills to enable them to provide appropriate guidance for people living with the virus,” Ogundiran says.
On the paucity of funds that tends to affect health care delivery in the country, Araoye advocates continued judicious utilisation of available resources in order to curb the spread of the disease.
