TRAGIC: Bride’s Father Chokes To Death During Wedding Reception Just Hours After Walking Her Down The Aisle

A bride’s joy was turned into sadness when her father choked to death at her fairytale wedding.

The 73-year-old man, Jagah Babwah gave his daughter Camela away during her wedding ceremony earlier at a picturesque castle.

But just two hours later the taxi driver began choking on a piece of lamb in the post-wedding feast and guests desperately tried to save him with the Heimlich manoeuvre.

Despite their efforts Mr Babwah suffered a cardiac arrest and was later pronounced dead by paramedics.

Camela decided to continue the wedding in tribute to her much-loved father, which is what she believes he would have wanted.

Mother-of-one Camela, an admin assistant from Gillingham, Kent, said: ‘We have been planning the wedding for two-and-a-half years and he was forever talking about it.

‘In the morning he was so happy. He had never worn a proper three-piece suit and I was his baby daughter.

‘As he was about to walk me down the aisle he started to cry. It was the first time I’ve seen him cry and it started me off.

‘It was such a hot day and when we were having the meal I told him to take his jacket off but he wouldn’t. He looked so smart.’

Distraught Camela was taken into the same room where her beaming father had given her away to be told the tragic news.

She revealed that the hardest point was when she had to open up her father’s wedding card the very next day.

Nollywood actress, Uchenna Nnanna is said to have been involved in a car accident around Lekki area of Lagos.

According to sources, she was driving back home from the airport, where she went to drop her younger sister and with the heavy rain that fell in Lagos this morning caused her tyres to slip and she had a coalition with a car in front of her.

Although she had a minor but few bruises on her body, her car is seriously damaged.

Ladies, Stop And Read This!!! Anorexia Nervosa Is No Joke! Beware!

Previously, I wrote about the disorder called Anorexia nervosa – an eating disorder where people especially ladies fear that they would gain weight and deliberately avoid eating. This lead to a metabolic and hormonal disorder giving rise to an extreme and deadly weight loss. Recently, another writer on this page posted an article about a model named Karagianni Nana, a one time most famous journalist in Greek, who in a bid to keep in shape stopped eating. She became a victim of Anorexia nervosa. I saw a picture of the former and new her and I was like “ghosh! Why should a beautiful lady like this become a shadow of herself?” Well, the new version of this model is nothing but her skeletal system with just a tiny covering of flesh! Whew! Ladies, why should you starve yourself? Why don’t you cherish and nourish your own body? Yea, I know you don’t want to gain some unnecessary weight or you are just so desperate to shed off some fats. Yes, you want that guy to stick with you or you want to make that cool guy notice you…. But then, it is time to STOP being hard on yourself! Anorexia nervosa is no joke! You don’t have to be skinny to be pretty! Moderation is the key! Not all ladies would have the model’s figure! Stop being carried away by the sight of the skinny models we see on the media, some people actually have genes for such! Be yourself!

Shout out to the ladies who are proud of who they are, ladies who would not become shadows of themselves in a bid to go with the flow! Go girls! Eat that food, don’t skip that meal, drink plenty of water, take fruits and nourish your own body…..a little exercise aint bad either.

Chinese Kidnappers Give Hostage Money, Release Her After Finding Out She’s Poor

Talk about a change of heart.

Two Chinese kidnappers, identified only by their last names –- Lu and Xie — grabbed an 11-year-old girl in hopes of getting a hefty ransom in return for her release, Shanghai Daily reported. However, once the pair learned that the girl’s family was poor, and there was no way that they would be able to come up with the more than $160,000 they were demanding, Lu and Xie decided to set the girl free and give her about $80, too.

The girl was unharmed and the two were caught and punished. Lu will serve four years for his crime Xie will serve five.

While it sure is unusual for criminals to change courses while they’re in the midst of carrying out a scheme, it does happen every once in a while.

Last month, burglars broke into a San Bernardino, Calif., nonprofit that helps victims of s*xual violence and made off with six computers with hard drives, a laptop and a bag of valuables, NBC Los Angeles reported.

But, once the thieves realized that they had stolen from the San Bernardino County s*xual Assault Services, they returned the items and left a pretty heartwarming note, too.

“We had no idea what we were takeing [sic]. Here your stuff back. We hope that you guys can continue to make a difference in peoples [sic] live. God bless,” the note read.

Everyone involved, police and the organization’s employees, were stunned and elated.

“We were all pretty shocked,” Candy Stallings, the nonprofit’s executive director, told the news outlet. “You’ve got to be kidding me. I was in disbelief, I got chills, I got very emotional.”

Breaking News: Taraba Assembly Halt Suntai’s Resumption, Ask Him To Go Back To U.S Hospital

The Taraba State House of Assembly has taken a decision to put an end to the ongoing political rascality and charade in the state by asking the ailing governor, Pharm. Danbaba Suntai to return to the United States and continue his treatment.

Speaker of the Assembly, Haruna Tsokwa, who made the lawmakers’ position known on Thursday morning, asked governor Suntai to return to the U.S. to continue his rehabilitation programme and only come back to resume work when he is fully fit.

Mr. Tsokwa said the decision was based on members’ findings after they were finally allowed to visit the ailing governor on Wednesday night in Government House, Jalingo.

The Speaker said the lawmakers were fully convinced that Mr. Suntai is not fit to resume work as governor of the state.

Gaddafi’s Son To Stand Trial Next Month

The son and the spy chief of the dead Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi have been charged with murder in relation to Libya’s 2011 civil war and will stand trial next month.

The prosecutor general Abdel Qader Radwan said the trial of the two-Gaddafi’s son Saif al-Islam and the deposed leader’s spy chief Abdullah el-Senoussi – will start on September 19.

The two face charges over alleged crimes committed during Gaddafi’s 42-year rule and during the eight-month civil war in which he was killed.

Last February, the International Criminal Court had ruled that Libya cannot give Gaddafi’s son a fair trial and asked authorities to hand him over to The Hague-based court.

Libya wants to prosecute him at home, where he might face the death penalty, rather than hand him to the ICC where he could only receive a jail sentence.

Tope Alabi Finally Speaks Out On Prophet Ajanaku's Death

Gospel singer, Tope Alabi who has kept mum on the death of her ertswhile prophet has finally spoken out.

It was reported that Tope Alabi’s ertswhile prophet, Ajanaku passed on Saturday evening and the late cleric was Tope Alabi’s spiritual father until they both parted ways.

Tope Alabi who is currently on a missionary journey to Canada heard the news that Prophet Ajanaku was dead and she is saddened that they could not settle their dispute before his death.

In her words:

”I am currently in Canada where I am ministering and will go to New York from here. I was sad when I heard the story and it saddened me that we didn’t settle before his demise. If I had known, we would have sorted out our differences’

'Why Is It Dark?' Asks Blinded Chinese Boy [Photos]

A six-year-old Chinese boy who had his eyes gouged out does not know he has been blinded and asks his family why the sun has yet to rise, state media reported Wednesday.

The boy, surnamed Guo, was found covered in blood in the northern province of Shanxi after he went missing while playing outside, Chinese media reported previously.

His eyes, gouged out by an attacker, were recovered nearby, a police officer in Fenxi county who declined to be named told AFP.

The boy was being treated at an eye hospital and was not yet aware that he has been left blind for life, the Beijing Youth Daily said.

 

"He asks why the sky is always dark... and why the dawn still hasn't come," it quoted an uncle of the boy as saying.

"We could only tell him that his eyes had some injury and have to be bandaged. (We tell him that) they will be fine after the bandage is removed.

"It is such a difficult question to explain to him. It is the most heartbreaking thing," he said.

Earlier Chinese media reports said the corneas were missing when the boy's eyes were found, leading to speculation that the attacker was an organ trafficker.

But police said Wednesday the corneas had been found attached to the eyeballs and ruled out organ sales as a motive, although they were unable to provide an alternative explanation for the attack.

"We are still working on it so we cannot offer any comment or make any assumption on the motives," the Fenxi officer said.

Police offered a 100,000 yuan ($16,000) reward for information leading to the arrest of the sole suspect, who they said was a woman. Reports said she drugged the boy before gouging out his eyeballs.

No-one had been detained by late Wednesday afternoon, domestic media said.

A video posted online Tuesday showed the boy -- who had a cleft palate -- writhing in agony on a hospital bed. Pictures posted online Wednesday showed him still heavily bandaged, apparently in less acute pain.

The brutal attack has shocked Internet users in China, who offered sympathy for the boy and demanded retribution against his attacker on the country's hugely popular microblogs.

His plight was the most searched news story on Sina Weibo, China's version of Twitter, on Wednesday.

"This poor child, he must be suffering more than if he was dead and he has to live in darkness forever," said one poster. "We have to capture the criminal!"

Another wrote: "This is so cruel. I hope we can quickly capture the suspect and bring justice back! She is worse than a monster."

Doctors plan to implant artificial eyeballs in the boy's eye sockets after his inflammation subsides so that people will not be scared by his appearance in future, his uncle said according to media reports.

Police IG Ready To Remarry In September

Despite his very tight schedule and demanding job as Nigeria’s number one policeman, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar still has time to tend to matters of the heart as he is set to remarry about a year after he lost his wife, Maryam Abubakar, to cancer in January 2012. 

The IGP, according to Saharareporters, will be getting married to a fair-skinned 35-year old lady identified as Safiya in a three-day wedding ceremony.

The wedding proper will take place on Saturday, Septemeber 14, 2013. 

Nigerian BBA Reps Melvin and Beverly Return To Nigeria

The two Nigerian Housemates who represented the country in the just concluded Big Brother Africa reality TV show have landed the country.

The finalists, Beverly and Melvin landed in Nigeria around the 8:00pm yesterday and were greeted by a large applause from family, fans and well wishers at the MM1 airport today.

Osun Gov. Aregbesola Gives Scholarship To Stowaway Teenager

A volunteer group extolling the virtues of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Governor of Osun State,
De Raufs, has volunteered to sponsor 15-year-old stowaway teenager, Daniel Oikhena, who hid in the tyre compartment of Arik Air flight from Benin to Lagos.

In a statement signed by the Director General of the group, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, the group is ready to give scholarship to Daniel up to university level and help him realise his dream of travelling by air legitimately.

“Genius and ambitious citizen of our country must not be suffocated on the alter of political and bureaucratic enforcement. The little boy’s ambition should be nurtured through qualitative education, and the group is ready to give the boy all the necessary support to make his dream a reality.

“We sincerely willing to offer him the scholarship to encourage thousands of teenagers who are cerebral and ambitious. The leaders in Nigeria fail on their part to see the potential of the little boy. Therefore, De Raufs takes up the responsibility to safe the future of this great boy and not turning him to criminal,” Shittu said.

The boy’s mother Mrs oikhena had earlier dismissed insinuations the boy could have fled Benin because she was maltreating him.

“I did not maltreat him. I don’t joke with my children’s welfare. He does not have friends; he hardly leaves home. I don’t know why he was going to Lagos,” she said.

“When I heard the news, I did not know what to do or say. I was so weak. Many people were telling me to calm down. My only joy now is that he is alive; that is my happiness,” she said.

Mrs Oikhena would be happier now that De Raufs has decided to take full responsibility of her son’s education.

17 Suspects in EFCC Net Over N 1.7 Billion Pension Scam in Oyo!

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested a syndicate of fraudsters implicated in the stealing of N1.7billion pension funds meant for retirees of Oyo State Primary Schools. The fraudsters numbering 17, were arrested separately by operatives of the Commission.

Principal suspects involved in the scam are: Muili Hakeem Aderemi- former Executive Secretary, Oyo State Local Government Pension Board and Iyabo Giwa- former Treasurer, Oyo State Local Government Pension Board. Others are Adeshina Jimoh Ayoade- former Cashier, Oyo State Local Government Pension Board; Oguntayo Banji- former Internal Auditor, Oyo State Local Government Pension Board and Adebiyi Olasunbo Musendiq- former Admin Officer, Oyo State Local Government Pension Board.

The rest are: Muili Adedamola; Salewa Adedeji; Kareem Rasheed; Johnson Bosede; Adeduntan Johnson; Olomide Olaide; Oyebamiji Akinlolu; Adewale Kehinde; Saka. M. Ikeola; Oluokun Funmilayo; Oyetunji Taiwo and Olujimi Philip Adebayo.

Investigations by the EFCC showed that all the pension offices in the 33 Local Governments in Oyo state were affected by the scam. The Pension Board reportedly received a total sum of N4,140,020,501.72( Four Billion, One Hundred and Forty Million, Twenty Thousand, Five Hundred and One naira, Seventy Two kobo only) from both the Federation account and the Oyo State Government between September 2010 and February 2011. Out of this amount, a total 

  

cash withdrawal of N1.711, 894, 667.05 ( One Billion, Seven Hundred and Eleven Million, Eight Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand, Six Hundred and Sixty Seven Hundred naira and five kobo only) was fraudulently made by the suspects. Items recovered from the suspects include buildings; poultry farms; power generating sets and undeveloped plots of land

EFCC has stated that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
