Guardrail goes through car, BMW driver unharmed

bmw-335i-guardrail

Place: Johannesburg.
Car: BMW 335i Convertible. Incident: Terrible car crash with a guardrail.
Result: Driver unharmed

This is one of those situations when someone is born the second time. A BMW owner living in South Africa had the unfortunate luck to collide with a guardrail while driving his E93 335i Convertible on wet pavement.

The car was presumably traveling at high-speed when the driver lost control and hit the highway side rail. The guardrail went through the car longitudinally and the backrest of the car was pushed out of the windscreen. The rear valance seems to be still attached to the armco barrier.

Chidi Mokeme: “My wife left me when she found out I’m an actor”

Chidi-Mokeme

Nollywood actor Chidi Mokeme in a new interview with Tribune reveals he almost lost his wife Jean after she found out he was an actor.
When asked the attraction when he met his wife Chidi says: -
“My wife has a very imposing presence. If she walks into a room, you have to notice her. She’s tall; she’s got a bald hair. In an age when people are killing themselves to buy a Brazilian hair and somebody walks into a room with all her hair taking off, now that’s a different kind of chick. I was so curious about her and I wanted to know more. I was in one corner of a room too getting a lot of attention as an actor from Nigeria. Convincing her to be my wife was very easy because as of the time I was going to tell her to be my wife, we had already dated and seen ourselves. So, when I brought up the issue of marriage, it was not a problem. I will say it was more difficult convincing her to be a girl friend. First and foremost, she didn’t even know who the hell I was. She was born and bred in America. She didn’t watch Nigerian movies nor had Nigerian friends. Her fascination must have been, who is this guy and why is everybody rushing to him? As a matter of fact, things became worse when she eventually knew I was an actor. She left me when she knew I was an actor. She said she couldn’t deal with somebody that everybody wants to get a piece of but later I convinced her.”

Hubby kills wife over sex

Tragedy struck at Iwuru community in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State as a 45-years-old man simply identified as ‘Bassey Akwa Ibom,’ allegedly killed his wife for denying him sex.

The suspect  and his  late wife, popularly called Mmamma, were said to be farmers and had lived in Big Iwuru with their seven children for decades before the ugly incident.

According to eye witness account, the incident happened on Thursday, last week at  about noon when the duo went for their usual farm work and a quarrel ensued between them.

The witness, said the man had demanded for sex from his wife but she  told him that she was tired and begged him to hold on until they get back to the house in the evening.

“I heard the late wife begging that he should hold on until they get home, but the man was not prepared to let go as he rather, decided to beat her up after he had tried unsuccessfully to make love to her in the farm.”

Consequent upon this, the woman slumped and gave up the ghost after she had shouted for help and none came.

At the village, some neigbhours confided in Daily Sun that the suspect is fond of torturing the wife.

According to them, they had separated fights between the duo on the flimsy excuse that the woman was no longer cooperating with the suspect aqnd on such occasions, he either  threatened to send her packing or  deal with her.

One of the neighbours, said: “We had tried to settle them to no avail. That man  always complained about the late wife. We have often times pleaded with him to leave the woman alone before she dies in his  hand and finally, she has died. “This has  put the entire community in trouble because police would expect us to provide information about the incident. As I am talking with you, most youths have fled the village for fear of being arrested. Now, who will take care of the seven children left behind by this woman?”
Meanwhile, the youths of Iwuru have threatened to ostracise Bassey from the community once he released by the police, saying such a man cannot live in their midst anymore because he has committed grave crime against his host community.

It was gathered that but for the intervention of some elders and the children left behind, the man would have been lynched even before police’s investigation.

Checks by Daily Sun revealed that the man has been arrested and was being detained at Biase Divisional Police station, undergoing interrogation.

When contacted on phone, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Cross River State Police Command, Mr. Hogan Bassey, said such matter had not been made known to his office.

Trouble Looms In Mercy Johnson’s Matrimonial Home

mj

I heard this gist days back ago but the fact that it has come up again, only signifies a little truth.

Veteran Nollywood actress — Mercy Johnson who is married to an Edo Prince, Odianosen Okojie, apparently wasn’t Odianosen’s first wife; Odianosen was married before he got married to Mercy.

If you can all remember, Mercy Johnson’s marriage to the reach Edo Prince was almost interrupted but finally pulled through successfully; apparently, the controversy that almost stopped Odianosen’s wedding with Mercy might not be fully settled yet.

Reports say that Odianosen’s former wife who is still insisting that she has not fully divorced from the Edo prince is at the moment asking Mercy and her husband to take custody of one of her kids.

I heard that the Canadian based woman, Lovelyn, was recently in Odianosen’s family home in Edo state with her daughter demanding that the father take custody of her; the actress and her husband were summoned for an immediate meeting by family members.
Lovelyn who was said to be present at the meeting had already prepared her daughter for relocation.

Sources says Mercy and her husband stormed out of the meeting and left for Lagos almost immediately when the matter was brought forward, with Odianosen insisting that she take her daughter back to where they are both coming from.

Former Wife Of Mercy Johnson’s Husband Speaks About Her Life

Capture

The former wife of Mercy Johnson’s husband, Odianosen Okojie, has revealed that the episode of her life, when her husband and the father of two left her for another woman is now the history.

Lovely Okojie confessed she couldn’t explain this move, but adding that “life is full of ups and downs” she said she had accepted her fate.

When asked to speak about her children, Lovely replied they are fine and that she is coping well.
However, when the interviewer inquired whether Odianosen has been assisting in the children’s upkeep, Lovely got angry saying:

“What do you mean? That is my past. Don’t ask me questions about my past. I don’t want to relate with my past. In fact, I don’t know what you are talking about,” and the phone went off.

According to Encomium source, which is close to the ex-wife’s family, Lovely is still very bitter about what happened to her marriage and felt really betrayed.

“She is not thinking of another marriage now, she is yet to recover from the past experience.”

It would be recalled that Lovely raised the alarm in 2011 that the man Mercy Johnson was planning to marry was actually her legal husband.

When everything seemed to be ready for the big day, Lovely dropped the bombshell with pictures of her marriage to Okojie to back up her claim.

It caused the marriage delay. However the two lovebirds tied their vows at a Christ Embassy Church, Oregun, Lagos on Saturday, August 27, 2011, amidst tight security.

APC May Settle on General Buhari as its Presidential Candidate.

general_muhammadu_buhari_in_civilian_regalia

Sources in the All Progressives Congress (APC) say that the party may have decided on General Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate, the Sunday Independent reports.

Buhari, 71, obtained APC membership card this year, on February 8. But the first indications that the former head of state may contest the party’s presidential primary emerged in August.
Some of the APC leaders told Sunday Independent that Buhari candidature could guarantee vast support for the APC from the North-west and North-east, because, the sources said, most people in the North still see the former head of state as the messiah.

According to the sources, Buhari seems to be the only person with qualities antithetical to any potential candidate from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This alternative, the sources said, may give additional votes to the opposition party.

One of the leaders from the Middle Belt said that Buhari is the only Nigeria’s leader who is not corrupt. He also called him a unifying figure within the party.

Party’s primary is ‘something we have to manage very well’
Sunday Independent gathered that the major headache of the APC at the moment is how to conduct transparent primary in which Buhari will emerge the winner.

Sources noted that the APC leadership is being very conscious that Nigerians are watching its nomination process as a test of whether the party will respect its constitution and is committed to a credible and transparent nomination process.
“You can only envisage what would happen if the party failed to field Buhari.

Remember that there are many people who joined the APC because of Buhari and they are ready to do everything for him,” said the source who required anonymity as he was not authorised to speak on the matter.
Therefore, the party’s leadership urged all Buhari’s sympathisers to redouble their efforts to ensure that he wins the presidential ticket in a democratic manner.
“So, it’s something we have to manage very well. In fact, I can tell you emphatically that the unity of the party would be greatly affected if Buhari is not picked as our presidential candidate,” the source added.
Sunday Independent reports that another party leader said in a telephone interview that the APC leaders were well aware of the tag of a serial presidential loser attached to Buhari.

He ran unsuccessfully for the presidential office in the 2003, 2007 and 2011.

But, the source added, 2015 election would be different because of the increasing dynamics of the presidential race and the determination of APC leaders to forgo their personal interests to that of the party.

He also said that although there are other presidential hopefuls in the party that are being speculated to have an ambition – namely, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, and the Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso – the party cannot afford to take a gamble in presenting an electable candidate that can defeat the PDP.
“With Buhari, we are already sure of 16 million votes; and if you look at the current spread of our party’s configuration in the country, we are going to do well in the North-west, North-east, North-central and very well in the South-west.

“The only problem we are likely to have is the Southeast. The Southsouth is going to be keenly contested because of the twin-factors of Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State and the Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who are top contenders for the Vice-Presidency.

“Apart from this, don’t forget that Buhari has cult followership in the North and that he lost many of states in 2011 because he did not manage the nomination process of the candidates well. ”This time around, the APC is ready to exploit these advantages in our bid to defeat President Goodluck Jonathan,” said the source.
Still, Atiku, Tambuwal, Kwankwaso should not be written off
This implicit endorsement of the former Head of State by the APC leaders has not stopped former Tambuwal, Kwankwaso, and former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, from strategising for the plum job and animating their structures.

It was gathered that even though the trio may not openly challenge Buhari if he decides to contest, they are aware of eventualities that could support their candidature before the primary.

According to sources within the APC, the three contenders have formed committees and have been holding meeting across the country for an eventual entrance into the presidential race.

Meanwhile, substantive national leaders of the APC are to emerge at the National Convention of the party on May 24.

It will be preceded by Ward Congresses on April 5, Local Government Congresses on April 12, and State Congresses on April 23.

20 corpses of ritual victims uncovered in Oyo

Ibadan forest of horror: Police arrest six suspects

Thousands of curious residents flooded yesterday the “evil forest” where dying men and women, human skulls, and decomposing bodies were found.

The crowds started to throng the site as early as 8:00 am, increasing by the hour till nightfall when visibility became poor.

The entrance of the site (in Soka) from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was also fortified by armed policemen who stationed three patrol vans at the site.

People screamed continuously on seeing human skulls and other body parts in the expansive forest.

Some youths insisted that more victims were still trapped in an underground apartment where victims were murdered.

Angry youths carrying logs led others to several areas of the site to see the human parts. They vowed to maim any of the perpetrators who may be found in the bush but none was seen.

Ten survivors found in the forest are receiving medical attention at the State Hospital, Adeoyo, Yemetu, Ibadan.

The surging crowd, wielding cutlasses, clubs, shovels and iron rods insisted on demolishing the abandoned buildings, formerly used by factories.

The police fired teargas to ward off the crowd.

Speaking on the Saturday discovery, the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hon. Abass Aleshinloye, who witnessed the evacuation of the kidnapped persons on Saturday, described the action of the captors as criminal, adding that the matter is being handled by the police.

“I can’t stand the gory sight; it’s horrible. What we only did was to arrange for an ambulance to take the survivors to Adeoyo , Yemetu State Hospital for urgent medical attention. So, I believe the state government has taken over the matter,” the council boss said.

There was tension in Soka, with youths combing the bush.

No fewer than 20 decomposed human bodies were either dumped in a ditch or thrown underneath the damaged heavy equipment that were also abandoned at the site.

Also at the site were various parts of human bodies, including skulls, bones and hands.

A hall within the building was also full of personal effects, such as clothes, shoes and necklaces.

Some abandoned vehicles on the site were also full of wearing apparels which residents said might belong to the victims.

Most of the apparels are ladies’.

Residents called for the demolition of all the structures on the site, insisting that there could be more human beings trapped underground.

Some of the residents have also constituted themselves into monitoring groups at the site, combing the bush for another possible discovery.

A one-time member of defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD) Alhaji Kayode Adekojo, told reporters that until the government discourage capital flight from Nigeria, the urge and lust for money will always lead people with criminal mind to carry out bizarre incidents such as seen on the ‘Soka’ gory site.

“The lust for money can lead to any ungodly act, such as the one we are witnessing now. For God’s sake, how can human beings do this to their fellow human beings, killing and dumping them and selling their parts. I will urge the Federal Government to stop capital flight. The government should not allow people to keep money abroad. When this is done, people will not be pushed into carrying out dastardly acts like this.”

A resident of the area, Wale Rasheed urged the government to increase security in the state, particularly among abandoned sites and isolated buildings.

The police confirmed the arrest of six men, including five security men in nearby companies, in connection with the incident, adding that three dane guns, three single barrel guns, one bow, 16 arrows, 22 cutlasses, 40 live cartridges, seven table knives, one axe and two iron bars are among items recovered from the scene.

Police Spokesperson Bisi Clet Ilobane, a superintendent of police (SP) said five persons, two women and three men – were rescued from the site.

“Are we now like Nigeria where you have to reach your pocket to get anything done” – Mugabe Speaks On Corruption In Nigeria
Robert Mugabe, closing in on 100 years

President Robert Mugabe was speaking at his 90th birthday luncheon. The Zimbabwean President took several shots at Nigeria in his remarks saying Zimbabweans are now almost behaving like Nigerians who have to be corruptly paid for every service.

“Are we now like Nigeria where you have to reach your pocket to get anything done,” he said. “You see we used to go to Nigeria and every time we went there we had to carry extra cash in our pockets to corruptly pay for everything. You get into a plane in Nigeria and you sit there and the crew keeps dilly dulling without taking off as they wait for you to pay them to fly the plane,” said the president followed by a huge laugh from the delegates attending his birthday bash. -

He attributed the tragedy to overspeeding and lamented that scores of people lost their lives only in the recent two days in road accidents.
