Researchers have suggested that sex seems to be a better remedy for headaches than painkillers.
Endorphins released during sex helps reduce headaches and this has
prompted researchers to say that sex can be a cure for headaches.
It is no good using a headache as an excuse not to have sex - on the
contrary the act of making love can help relieve headaches and can be
more effective than taking painkillers, a study from the University of
Munster, Germany, found.
A study among migraine victims found that more than 50% of them who had
sex during an episode said they found improvement in their symptoms.
The release of endorphins, which are the body's natural painkillers,
during sex can help reduce and completely cure a headache, the study
found.
"The majority of patients with migraine or cluster headache do not have
sexual activity during headache attacks. Our data suggest, however,
that sexual activity can lead to partial or complete relief of headache
in some migraine and a few cluster headache patients. Our results show
that sexual activity during a migraine attack might relieve or even stop
an attack in some cases, and that sexual activity in the presence of
headache is not an unusual behavior. Sex can abort migraine and cluster
headache attacks, and sexual activity is used by some patients as acute
headache treatment," researchers concluded.
