A daycare worker was arrested after sexually assaulting 23 children, according to court records.
Prosecutors said that the 23-year-old daycare worker in Idaho has confessed to sexually abusing the 23 children.
Joshua Ritchie was accused of lewd conduct with a child and was held on
$2.5 million bond. Ritchie was arrested after a 5-year-old reportedly
told her parents that she was sexually abused by Ritchie.
Ritchie worked at Cornerstone Childcare in Nampa about 20 miles outside
of Boise and was also a substitute for the Nampa School District kitchen
staff and the Idaho Arts Charter School. Prosecutors told Judge Brian
Lee during a hearing that Ritchie told investigators he sexually abused
23 children between the ages of 5 and 14 years old.
Ritchie
pleaded guilty to a dozen sex crimes including sexual abuse of a minor,
lewd conduct with a minor, and sexual exploitation of a child. At
sentencing Ritchie apologized to the victims "My heart breaks again each
time I think of the people I've let down. I've done some inexcusable
things and will have to live the rest of my life with that
knowledge,"Ritchie said.
He has been sentenced to 32 years to life in prison.
