For respect towards the victims and their loved one, TAP MAGAZINE is
refraining from using severely disturbing images of the deceased
victims.
Hope you don’t find any of the following images offensive and if you do, kindly advice us.
Gunmen
today entered an upscale shopping mall in Nairobi, killed 39 people and
wounded 150 more in a massacre that Somalia’s Al Shabab militants now
claim to have engineered.
The
group said the shambles was a direct retaliation for Kenya’s military
intervention in Somalia where African Union troops are battling the
Islamists. On its own twitter account, Al-Shabab said it had “on
numerous occasions warned the Kenyan government that failure to remove
its forces from Somalia would have severe consequences”.
On
a televised address to the nation, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta
confirmed that he had “personally lost family members in the Westgate
attack”, but said the country had “overcome terrorist attacks before,
and we will defeat them again. They want to cause fear and despondency
in our country, but we will not be cowed, Terrorism is a philosophy of
cowards.”
He
later added that “Our security forces are in the process of
neutralizing the attackers and securing the mall,” these, — after
nearly 12 hours since the assault began.
The
French government confirmed that two of it’s citizens were killed
during the westgate massacre while the Canadian government has also
confirmed that two Canadians, including a diplomat lost their lives on
the scene. The US government reported undisclosed number of its citizens
were injured.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all Kenyans at this testing times. Poleni Sana
