At
least seven persons were killed as fresh hostilities on Saturday broke
out between Adadama community of Cross River State and the Ikwo people
of Ebonyi State, reports said.
Eyewitnesses
say a group of over 40 armed men from Ebonyi State invaded Adadama
community killing seven persons and injuring over 20. The bodies of the
victims were said to have been deposited at the mortuary in Itigidi.
Both
communities last month entered a peace accord in a meeting held in
Abuja. It therefore came as a surprise that such hostilities could come
up so soon.
The government of both states have therefore been called on to look into the matter and find a lasting solution to the strife.
